For many, when we suffer over a period of time, we have often explored and used a range of traditional medical treatment options. This may include a visit to your GP, pain management through prescription drugs, physiotherapy, chiropractic, osteopathy or other treatment therapies.
For many, some of the above treatments may simply manage and treat the issue including pain on a daily level, but may not address the underlying problem. With the Feldenkrais Method® the approach is more holistic. It looks at the way you, as an individual, function and move with your own unique body (as no two bodies are the same). For many, some learnt behaviour and movement patterns, which you may not have strong awareness of, may be contributing to your lack of wellness and well-being.
With the Feldenkrais Method® we take the time to explore your specific issue/s and introduce you to new movement patterns that can be undertaken in a more efficient and pain-free manner. This is often referred to as functional learning.
The Feldenkrais Method® is a brain-based approach which helps you improve your functioning in daily activities, including work, at home, sports performance etc. This unique form of self-education was developed by a distinguished physicist and self-defence exponent Moshé Feldenkrais. From his extensive scientific and practical knowledge he developed a unique, scientifically based method of body (somatic) learning. It is these principles and approach that Alan uses throughout his practice at Movewell Livewell.
